Our Story
NextUp Futsal began 15 years ago through a vision to bring futsal to the valley. We knew the SF Valley has so much talent, booming with culture and grit, and we wanted to be a vessel to shine a light on it. We've always wanted to give back to our community that raised us, & molded us to be the competitors we are today. Through our own experience and knowledge gained along the way, we are intentional on how we apply what we've learned & how we develop the next generation of ballers who are NextUp, ready to make a name for themselves in the game they love.

Founder & Coaching Director
David Gonzalez
David Gonzalez is a passionate soccer & futsal coach based in the SF Valley and the founder of NextUp Futsal. He holds a US Soccer National C License along with Level 1 & Level 2 US Futsal certifications, bringing both formal training and real-world experience to his coaching.
Raised in the Valley, David developed his love for the game playing street soccer with friends, where creativity, quick decision-making, & technical skill were everything. That foundation continues to shape his coaching philosophy today-emphasizing confidence on the ball, intelligence in tight spaces, & a deep understanding of the game.
Through NextUp Futsal, David is committed to creating an environment where players can grow, compete, & express themselves while building strong fundamentals & a lifelong passion for futsal.
Head Coach
Johnny Gonzalez
Johnny Gonzalez is a dedicated soccer player with an impressive background in both academy and international competition. He is a National Futsal Champion & a two-time MLS NEXT Cup champion, demonstrating his ability to perform & succeed at the highest youth levels of the game. Johnny has trained & competed with two of the top MLS Academies in the US, Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) Academy & the Los Angeles Galaxy (LAG) Academy.
On the international stage, Johnny had the honor of representing the El Salvador national under-17 football team, showcasing his talent while competing against top players from around the world. With experience in elite academies, championship tournaments, & international play, Johnny continues to push himself to grow as a player at the collegiate level. Johnny brings his real-world experience in Futsal and Soccer along with his passion to develop the next generation.
